Here we take notes on figure making and repairs.

Hair piece or extensions can be used for a hair for your puppet. buy at wig stores.
children wigs can be bought at costume stores, also come in infant size..hair for your Ventriloquist dummy/puppet
Toddler wigs come in many styles and colors.
Tacks can be used for secure the wig onto the figure head.
glue can be used for secure the wig onto  the head or holding parts of the figure body together.
Box cutters and scissors ✂️ will be part of your tool box for cutting and trimming.
rulers are tools.
Paint brushes and paper will be n needed as tools.
Paint brushes in all shapes and sizes are  needed in your toolbox 🧰
spray paint is a great simple way of painting a Ventriloquist dummy/puppet for amateur or semi pro Ventriloquist. you can also airbrush. or use regular gallon house paint but be careful with the coating  when using house paint on your Ventriloquist  dummy.
Thread 🧵 is a tool in your toolbox for Ventriloquial figure making.and machine is suggested.
Duck tape is used for building the body.. theses bodies are called the mummy body..the mummy body is a container cut into a body shape then held together with duck tape.
A storage box or shoe box made of hard material can be used for the body..cut a hole at center top where figure head will go
Trim the container down in shape of a body as you can see they are in many sizes. pick the size of your figure and cover with clothes.
after you trimmed the box down to the shape of a body add the arms and legs then secure with duck tape.
if you choose a round body a container in a round shaped can be used.
A pair of socks can be used for legs 🦵
Cutton balls are stuffing the socks 🧦 to shape into legs. and socks can be used for arms.
✋ hands can be from dolls parts or toys, or gloves 🧤, etc.
Finger nail 💅 polish can be used for drawing the finger nails onto the hand.

In this class discussion the notes are for the amateur Ventriloquist or the semi pro Ventriloquist.

Manikin body parts can also be used for building your own Ventriloquist dummy.

When shopping 🛒🛍️👀 for hair for your Ventriloquist dummy some of the wigs are called hair bun and pull string ponytails.

If you like to add more facial details to your Ventriloquist dummy eye lashes can be added and eye lashes can be bought many stores

Adding Ears are also possible: you can purchase ears from costume stores..but if you like to cover the ear area of the figure head a hat or hair can hide that area..but most audiences don’t really pay attention to ears on the puppet..but these are just notes.

On a serious note purchasing a Ventriloquist figure might be expensive for some amateur Ventriloquists.. some professional ventriloquists buy the Ventriloquist dummy head and build the body themselves, so did I when I was a beginner, I built my own Ventriloquist dummy body and bought the Ventriloquist head and soon I could purchase a full Ventriloquist figure.

Before I learned about the mummy body I would make my Ventriloquial figures body from wood, wood tools were hammer 🔨 and nails and a 🪚 saw.. in middle school and highschool I made sure woodshop was one of my classes and yes I made many wooden Ventriloquial figures bodies in my school woodshop but then I discovered the mummy body a faster easy way for my Ventriloquial body building.

On these notes you can experiment with making your own Ventriloquist puppet. A sock can be made into a very nice puppet and a Ventriloquist doll can be turned into a high quality professional ventriloquist figure.

In the Ventriloquism world there’s hard Ventriloquial figures and soft Ventriloquial figures find the style that works for you.

keep in mind the clothes that your Ventriloquist puppet or Ventriloquist doll or Ventriloquial figure wear is also part of the figure making process.. make sure the Ventriloquist figure is fully dressed it doesn’t need to be fancy just completely dressed such as shoes 👟 👟 🧦 👠👠,socks or stockings or tights or 🩲🩳 underwear, 👗 dress or pants 👖, 👕 shirt, even add a 🧢 🤠 hat or a tie 👔 clothes are part of the Ventriloquial figures body.

once upon a time I visited a famous Ventriloquist home with my Ventriloquist figure,my Ventriloquist figure is a Ventriloquist doll, I am a fan of the Ventriloquist doll, I enjoy entertaining with the Ventriloquist doll, this style work for me, during the visit the famous Ventriloquist said that my Ventriloquist figure was a little guy, I explained that when I am on stage I feel comfortable with my main Ventriloquist figure the famous Ventriloquist create me a full size professional 40inches figure made out of foam just like the one you see up at the top in the demo photo..the famous Ventriloquist air brush the foam puppet and fully dressed the puppet, beautiful puppet after completely done during the visit the famous Ventriloquist teach me about foam puppets..so I suggest foam puppet building because they are fast to build but very cheap meaning handle with care and that’s why I enjoy the Ventriloquist doll because they are built to last, you can drop them on the floor many times with out damage and traveling worry free..I have own many many professional ventriloquist figures and I am comfortable with the Ventriloquist dolls..the sock puppets like lamb chop can entertain the world or the wood 🪵🪓 carved dummy Charlie McCarthy can entertain the world or a foam puppet or a Ventriloquist doll or what ever that makes you happy can entertain the world.
