While the audiences are listening to the audio book the ventriloquist can also be listening 🎧 or hiding out of view waiting for the audio book to end to enter with the ventriloquist dummy or perhaps pass out business cards to some audience members.

As a very young ventriloquist I started as a ventriloquist reading story books with my ventriloquist dummy name Sammy to school kids.. ‘STORY TIME’ was a successful self promotion for me as a young ventriloquist..there were no audiobooks back then in those days but if it were I would have been very creative using them, public libraries always had special guests that were storytellers and my ventriloquist act was always booked as special guests, it was amazing seeing my Ventriloquist act name on giant posters inside the public libraries and outside of the public libraries.
